Hawkesford have been estate agents in Warwickshire for nearly 30 years now, and this year has been by far the most testing. Like many of you, we’ve had to contend with completely unexpected challenges and changes to our lives. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who are looking forward to 2021 and everything settling down. But first, some highlights of 2020. There were some!
#HawkesfordFromHome was a success. We swiftly managed to move to home working in March and keep in touch with sellers, landlords, and potential buyers and tenants throughout the first lockdown. Sally also did a fantastic job making scrubs for the NHS.
The Stamp Duty Holiday and people’s changing work/life patterns has meant the property market has been really busy through the Autumn. We’ve seen huge demand and have taken on 5 new members of staff over the last few months to keep pace with the levels of interest.
During lockdown two, the government recognised moving house was an essential activity; sales and moves were able to complete, and we hope this means that this will be the case during any further periods of restriction.
There is still interest in commercial properties, in the last month we’ve let four commercial properties in Warwick, and we wish those businesses, along with all our fellow local independent businesses, all the best for 2021
Unfortunately there haven’t been any charity events with auctions for James to help out at this year, it’s something he loves to take part in so if you know of any being planned for next year, please get in touch to see if he’s free to join you.
As a final summary of 2020, here are the top 7 figures for Hawkesford in 2020.
- Most expensive property sold £1.35 million
- Least expensive property sold £80,000 (shared ownership)
- Most expensive rental property £2500 per month
- Least expensive rental property £475 per month
- Number of new staff members: 5
- Number of babies born: 1
- Number of awards won: 1 – Southam lettings award
We’re all hoping for a less eventful 2021 but if the big event for you will be a house move please get in touch to see how we can use our local knowledge and years of experience to make it as smooth as possible.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
