Black Friday is a recent arrival from the USA, but it’s the Boxing Day sales that have been a UK tradition for years. For many of us, a new home is the most expensive thing on our post-Christmas shopping list.
-Rightmove recorded its busiest ever festive period for home-mover activity in 21/22, with buyer demand up by 23% compared to the same period – 26 December – 1 January – last year.
-The number of new properties coming to the market was up by 21% on Boxing Day 2021 compared to 2020 as sellers took advantage of the post-Christmas market surge.
-Rightmove recorded the highest number of new sellers on Boxing Day it had ever seen.
The festive period can often encourage people to think about moving to a new home as busy homes and lots of house guests often cause people to evaluate their space. With many people not working, time is available to start their online search.
So if you are thinking about putting your home on the market – act now.
Preparing your home in advance will help attract buyers and show a good impression of your property. Here’s a few tips:
- A quick tidy up of dead leaves and weeds
- Sort all the little DIY jobs that need doing – such as replacing bulbs, fixing leaking taps
- Clear some of the clutter in your home to give it a spacious, welcoming feel
And remember to get in touch with us as soon as you can. As a local agent, we know the market in the area well and we’ll get your property up online quickly with a reasonable asking price.
If selling your home is on your Christmas list – give the Hawkesford team a call. The festive clock is ticking!
